Reading up on composition and conveying the mood of the moment, I have recently come across this article on Clickin Moms. (Read it here.)

Setting apart interesting from mostly boring photos was a good point. This can be achieved by switching up the perspective most of all. I’ve tried some of the recommendations out while skating with my youngest the other day. Fortunately, the two of us were the only ones out on a -15C day, and nobody was wondering about what I was doing on the ice, flat on my tummy.

Better in the sense of conveying how this first skating attempt went is also him sitting on the ice rather than the successful skate.

What do you think? Boring or not boring?
Changing the perspective definitely improved the photo and made it more exciting. This and the picture of him sitting on the ice sum up the skate day really well.
